The amount of transactions through UNIStream in Uzbekistan has reached $208 mln in the second quarter of 2008, up 153 percent against $82 mln in the same period of the last year.
In the first half of 2008, the system demonstrated a 160 percent growth. UNIStream executed the transactions worth $323 mln against $124 mln a year ago. The chairman of BD of UNIStream Gagik Zakaryan said the growth was due to not only general market growth but also the effective policy to develop the main money transfers corridors in the CIS.
“Uzbekistan is an important market segment and we pay a great attention to its intensive development,” Zakaryan said.
Within a year period, the number of UNIStream’s service points increased from 200 to 540 in the republic.
