In 2008, the amount of transactions of the international money transfer system UNIStream exceeded $4.91 billion, a 33-percent growth against 2007. The number of transactions soared to 5.55 million, the company reported.
In the 4-th quarter the amount of transactions reached $1.19 billion, while in the second half of 2008 the system demonstrated the volume of transactions worth $2.73 billion.
Summarizing the 2008 results, the leadership of the business pointed out that the UNIStream’s growth rates turned out to be higher than the CIS market average ones. The system currently controls 30 percent of the segment. The experts reported, that UNIStream demonstrated unconditional growth in all corridors.
Considering the global financial crunch that started affecting all branches of the world economy in the second half of the year, the leadership of UNIStream believes that the business reached high operational and financial results in 2008.
“In 2008, [the market] entered a new reality conditioned by the global financial turmoil. However, we believe that the exceptionally high growth rates of development and the potential we have accumulated will let us successfully come through the problem period and keep the leadership positions in all key corridors,” the chairman for BD of UNIStream, Gagik Zakaryan said.
With over 70,000 service points globally, UNIStream terminated the year 2008 having partnership agreements with 285 financial institutions worldwide and actively developing its own networks in Cyprus and UK.
In a light of this, the leadership of UNIStream sees the main 2009 goals in further development of the network, improvement of the service quality including widening of the service spectrum, and stepping up its market share.
